Much of West Alabama will be attending music festivals and other events as part of the 3-Day weekend, marking the remembrance of those who've lost their lives in the fight for freedom. While it is often called the "barbecue kickoff weekend," as if there's ever a time when we WON'T fire up the grill, this weekend offers another significant event: The Butterfly Walk 2016.

The Butterfly Walk will be held at Lion's Park in Greensboro, Ala. on Saturday, May 28th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Lupus Foundation of America Mid-South Chapter.

This event originated as a celebration of life for a Greensboro High School teen who was diagnosed with lupus 13 years ago. She is still fighting the disease, with the support of her community. While walkers are welcome to participate, donations are being accepted as well.
