Uber Finally Coming to Tuscaloosa

The City of Tuscaloosa and representatives from Uber have come to an agreement and the popular ride sharing app could be active in Tuscaloosa soon. 

The agreement may take some time since District 5 representative Kip Tyner was the lone hold out that kept the vote from being unanimous in a recent city council meeting.

Some of the resistance against Uber in Tuscaloosa may stem from the 2014 arrest of an Uber driver for possession of 
marijuana and alcohol while operating 
their vehicle. At that time, police were issuing citations to Uber drivers for operating illegally without a business license. Following the incident, Uber was forced to leave Tuscaloosa.

Uber representatives told Jason Morton of Tuscaloosa News that the service could be available to resident within the next 30 days.

The response on Twitter has been electric since the announcement of the agreement was made.
