Sickle Cell 5K Saturday in Tuscaloosa

Tomorrow morning, area residents and community partners will come together at Central High School's Lou C. Mimms Athletics Complex  for the 22nd Annual Sickle Cell Association Walkathon. Registration will begin at 9 a.m., and the walk will feature traditional events like the 5K Run, 3K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk as well as the Tiny Feet Trail, Softball Throw, 100m and 400m dash, Shot Put and Senior Two (2) LapWalk.

Celebrity Ambassadors for the walk are Olympic Gold Medalist and World Champion Runner and former University of Alabama Track Coach Harvey Glance and Junior World Champion, World Champion, Olympic Gold Medalist and former UA Track Star, Kirani James! The Honorable Judge John England will MC this family fun event!

There will be a DJ and family fun/children activities. Refreshments will be served, and door prizes will be awarded.
