The statue of Jefferson Davis was removed on yesterday from its pedestal at the University of Texas, at Austin. This action came as a result of a court rejection of an appeal launched by a Confederate heritage group.

The statue is scheduled to be moved to the Briscoe Center history museum on the University of Texas campus. This museum houses one of the nation's largest slavery archive.

Recently this statue had been vandalized and criticized that it symbolized discrimination and racism. Confederate symbols such as the statue are being reconsidered nationwide following recent shootings of blacks.
