Classes have been cancelled and normal operations suspended following a mass threat at Auburn University.  Auburn students and faculty were sent the following information via the University's AU Alert System:

AU ALERT: Due to continued student and parent anxiety over the reported threat to campus, Auburn University will cancel classes and suspend normal university operations for the day on Wednesday, April 16, 2014. Authorities do not have any additional information and do not believe the threat is credible at this time. Classes and normal operations will resume at 7:45 a.m. on Thursday, April 17.

Police presence has and will be increased in and around the campus of Auburn University today. Please continue to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity or security concerns to Auburn Police at 911 (emergency) or 334-501-3100 (non-emergency).

The alert is a response to a threat written in campus bathroom: "To whom it may concern. April 16th, 2014, I will unleash a rampage of biblical proportion across this tiny campus. You have been warned." The Auburn Plainsman tweeted a photo of the threat that caused the cancellation.

The Auburn Plainsman reports that police do not feel the threat is credible, and that concern from parents led to the suspension of today's classes and operations.
