Quarterback Jalen Hurts threw for 158 yards and rushed for 146 more as Alabama outscored the Rebels 45-6 over a 25-minute stretch in the second, third, and fourth quarters. The offense, defense, and special teams all scored in the 48-43 win.

After an 0-2 start, Kent State rebounded for a 27-7 win at home against Monmouth. The Golden Flashes held the Hawks to just 199 yards of total offense and allowed two third-down conversions in 15 tries.
