The University of Alabama football team took part in the second and final scrimmage of the fall on Saturday afternoon inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The scrimmage started roughly 45 minutes late due to a torrential rain storm that moved through the Tuscaloosa area in the early afternoon. The Crimson Tide ran an estimated 150 plays on a hot and humid day. The temperatures hung around the upper-80s with high humidity after the storm.

"The focus was to improve from last week to this week, and there were a lot of players that made a significant amount of improvement,” head coach Nick Saban said. “We are obviously not where we want to be. We are not disappointed in where we are."

The Crimson Tide saw progression from the first scrimmage to today's intrasquad, with both sides of the ball showing improvement as the day went along. The hot, muggy conditions and wet field made for slippery going early on.

"We’ve got plenty to work on. We’re not disappointed in where we are,” Saban said. “We are excited about the things that we are going to look at technically from this scrimmage and work to improve on this week before we start getting ready for our first game against USC, which will be a very challenging opponent."

The scrimmage was Alabama's second of the fall in preparation for the season opener against Southern California in the AdvoCare Classic on Sept. 3. The Crimson Tide and Trojans are set for a 7 p.m. CT kickoff at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, with the game airing on ABC. Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Sam Ponder will be on the call.
